ORGANIZATIONS

I help organizations understand and re-author the underlying mental and emotional intelligences at work on a collective level such that they are better prepared to address modern challenges that require holistic and adaptive change in rapidly shifting environments.

Today, organizations must be prepared to solve sophisticated new challenges in rapidly evolving landscapes for which norms and standards may not yet exist. I collaborate with teams to unearth and rewire the collective psychological operating system they use. This collective operating system unleashes new ways of being and working together that frees up energy to deliver improved results.

Like with the individual work, teams dig into the mental and emotional framework that guides their collective choices and create a plan for testing the inherent assumptions in their HR manual and rewriting any that prove untrue.

Similarly, as the old operating system is dismantled, we enhance the functionality of the new model being integrated by adding apps for values, strengths, orientation or approach to work, conflict management, and boundaries.

Once teams bring all of these pieces together and begin using the new operating system, they look forward to coming to work, feel valued, understand how their individual differences and strengths compliment the larger unit, and communicate more effectively. This unlocks incredible, and formerly unthinkable, new outcomes.

The details

I help groups to collectively understand and re-author the underlying mental and emotional intelligences at work – to become whole, collectively.

To start, I work with you to get a better understanding of the challenges your organization is facing. Together we analyze the status quo to determine how much psychological safety and trust are present. Once we establish a baseline, we prioritize the factors that would have the most impact on the health of your organization, creating a map to get you to the outcomes you want.

Workshops

Below is a list of workshops that can be booked à la carte or as a package tailored to your specific organizational needs. The points listed below describe the collective fundamental mental and physical takeaways your team or organization will co-create.

Organizational values workshop

This workshop is most useful when organizational values are not in practice daily or being lived by everyone in the organization. If your organization doesn't link values to behavior and measure and encourage or reward performance accordingly, book this workshop.

Workshop insights: why should you set organizational values? What do they influence? How well are your organizational values defined and practiced? How well do they resonate with staff? Are the values linked to specific behaviors? How are these behaviors encouraged and rewarded?

Workshop outcome: in our work together, we’ll evaluate how well the organizational values resonate with those who co-create the organization, refine or set values as needed, identify what values look like in daily practice, and determine how those could be measured and honored.

Mindset & attitudes workshop

This workshop is used when there are fundamental divides, organizationally or within teams. In this workshop, participants surface the often hidden beliefs that drive behaviors and rewrite the collective operating system to be able to come together and create outcomes that were not previously possible.

Workshop insights: what shared beliefs and assumptions underpin the mindset and attitudes of each person, as well as the organization? How does this impact results? How does the organization view failure? How well are personal details shared and received? How does the organization define performance?

Workshop outcome: collectively, using a process called Immunity to Change, we evaluate your individual and collective attitudes and worldviews to better understand how you can expand your mindsets to work better individually and together.

Feelings & emotions workshop

This workshop helps teams and organizations that experience volatile outbursts, situations of high stress, or enduring resentments that impact interpersonal relationships, performance and delivery.

Workshop insights: how do feelings and emotions work? Who is responsible for emotional reactions? How do emotions influence decisions? How do they shape organizational outcomes? How does responding, rather than reacting, to situations influence results? What is 100% ownership and how can I apply it to create change?

Workshop outcome: each person takes away an understanding of what emotions are and how they can be used as data to deepen the understanding of self, strengthen connections with others, and drive values-based, rather than fear-based decision-making. Participants can trace how emotional management influences and drives organizational outcomes.

Psychological ownership workshop

Book this workshop if your organization is coping with mindsets and attitudes like “it’s not my problem” or a “I don’t have the authority.” This workshop addresses concepts like “turf” and breaks down silos, bringing people together to collectively design solutions for which there are no norms.

Workshop insights: why is psychological ownership so critical? How invested are the organizational co-creators in the heart and soul of the enterprise? How many have socialized versus self-authoring perspectives? How can the organization enhance people’s buy-in, engagement, and cooperation?

Workshop outcome: each person understands what level of ownership they feel and what influences it. They understand how this impacts them and the organization. Collectively we identify ways to increase psychological ownership throughout the organization.

Culture workshop Host this workshop to transform a toxic environment ripe with distrust, secrecy, gossip, or backstabbing to one that nurtures trust, transparency, directness, and cooperation. Workshop insights: what are the elements of culture that create a Brave Space – an environment in which people flourish? What things help us to show up at our best? What things get in the way of our collective excellence? Workshop outcome: both the organization and individual teams commit to creating a Brave Space and identify how/where to seed and nurture the elements of Brave Spaces. This reduces conflict and creates cohesion within teams, as well as the wider organization. Cohesive teams drive improved outcomes.

Communication workshop – individual, teams, interdepartmental, external

This workshop changes the way teams communicate, as well as the influencing the language people use with themselves. Use this workshop to reduce conflict, better understand your own and others’ priorities, and strengthen intra- and inter-relationships.

Workshop insights: each individual strengths their connection to self by exploring their feelings and needs. After practicing self-empathy and learning how it connects directly to empathy for others, participants practice the dance of nonviolent communication, which changes how they relate to themselves as well as one another.

Workshop outcome: Individuals and teams become strong conflict managers and are able to identify core motivators and priorities for themselves, as well as others.

Systems & processes workshop

Get intentional about looking at the framework your organization uses to guide its mission and purpose. How whole is it? Reinvent your current framework to create an environment that supports people to do their best work.

Workshop insight: taking a close look at the current systems and processes in use, participants identify where they don’t support wholeness and brainstorm how the systems and processes could be adapted to better welcome our humanness.

Workshop outcome: participants comprehensively evaluate the ways they work and identify spots where the current structure undermines their confidence, fosters miscommunication, or demands they leave parts of themselves outside of work. Together the group re-designs the framework to create an expansive, rather than constrictive environment within the constraints they collectively agree to.

Physical space workshop

Workshop insights: how does the space around us contribute to our welfare and satisfaction? What kind of space makes us want to come to work? How does the organizational or virtual space/layout/set-up influence how we show up?

Workshop outcome: understanding of what types of spaces support well-being, foster relationships and collaboration, and permit us to flourish. Collaborative design for space planned and scheduled.
